Recycling steel is simple. When you arrive at our facility, you will drive across our state certified scales to receive a "heavy weight." Our skilled inspectors will also examine your material and tell you exactly what type of steel you have. After unloading your material, you'll drive across the scale one more time for a "light weight." Now you are ready to be paid and get on your way. If you have a large volume of material, ask us about our container and pick-up service.

Steel Recycling Guide

Heavy Melting Steel Recycling at Metro GroupHEAVY MELTING STEEL (HMS) - Steel scrap that is at least 1/4" thick. Steel must be free from sheet iron and light gauge material. It must also be free of non-metals, closed containers, and hazardous material. HMS that is under 5' x 2' and typically considered "prepared" material and may receive a premium price. 
Light Gauge Steel Recycling at Metro GroupTIN/LIGHT GAUGE STEEL - Light gauge steel such as sheet metal and appliances. It may contain small amounts of other materials such as plastics, rubber, etc. Most "shreddable" items are considered tin.
Plate and Structural Steel Recycling at Metro GroupPLATE AND STRUCTURAL (P&S) - Steel scrap that is at least 1/4" thick. This includes such as clean steel plates, and structural shapes such as I-beam or angle iron. Material under 5' x 2' is typically considered prepared and may receive a premium price. It must be free from contamination such as plastic, glass and wood. 
Cast Iron Recycling at Metro GroupCAST IRON - Cast steel scrap that is free of contaminants such as glass, plastic, wood, etc.
